As per a report by LiveLaw, Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani of the Delhi High Court heard a suit filed by actor Meenakshi Chaudhary seeking protection of her personality rights against three categories of online content: sexually explicit material posted without her consent, content that drew views later monetised through advertising, and content using her name and likeness to promote merchandise or services. According to reports of the hearing, the judge said he was against granting blanket injunctions on personality rights and asked where the line should be drawn.

The court granted an ex parte ad interim injunction directing takedown only of the first category, the sexually explicit content. It left the claims concerning commercial monetisation and merchandise open, saying the petitioner would need to show evidence that the defendants had made money from the use of her personality, and that a high view count on its own does not establish that. The order does not resolve the wider question and the remaining claims are pending further hearing.
